Levi lost the stump of his umbilical today. His belly button is still oozing a little bit (gross!), but this is normal and it should dry up and look like a normal naval pretty soon.
He was two weeks old Wed, and so far, he’s a VERY good baby. He hardly ever fusses, and when he does fuss, it’s usually because he’s hungry. Once his belly gets full, he’s a happy camper again.
Hopefully he will remain a calm baby. His big sister has NEVER been calm, so we are really digging this!
Levi Martin Moody came into our world at 11:27 PM July 26, 2006. He weighs 9 lbs 4 ounces, and is 20 inches long.
Mommy and baby are both doing fine.

It’s almost 1 PM on the baby’s due date, and still nada. I’m trying to figure out if the baby is just punctual and refuses to be born until his due date, or if he’s just nice and cozy where he’s at and doesn’t want to leave! If he’s not here by tomorrow, then I’ll know it’s not simply a matter of being punctual.
Jamie’s going to the Dr this afternoon and he’ll schedule an inducement, probably for a week or so out.
Stay Tuned!
Jamie’s 39 week Dr’s appointment was today. Doc says she’s dilated to 3cm and 85% effaced. Our little boy will be making his grand entrance pretty soon!
Hopefully my next post will contain pictures of our son!
I painted the nursery today. It was a bright lavendar color from when we painted it before Rachel was born. We went with a very light blue called “Ice Cap” this time. It looks great, and I’m sure baby boy will like it. It doesn’t even look like the same room. It’s hard to believe a gallon of paint and some new bedding can totally transform a room like this.
I left a small square of lavendar on one of the walls. We’ll put a picture over it, but I thought it would be neat to save some of the old color to show Rachel someday, when she’s forgotten that it was ever her room.
UPDATE: Posted pictures of the nursery.

Our friends Jennifer and Erica gave us a baby shower today. We got a lot of nice things for the baby. One of the things I liked about having a girl was getting to dress her up like a baby doll — and I didn’t really think you could do that with a boy, but after seeing all of these clothes, I’ve changed my mind. He’ll be a little doll, just like Rachel (except I’m sure he’ll be a manly doll)!
Thank you to everyone who came or sent gifts!
We had our 32 week ultrasound today (the last ultrasound), and everything is going well. It looks like we may have a big baby — this one is measuring bigger than Rachel did as this stage in the pregnancy. The ultrasound in the Doctor’s office isn’t very good, and can’t really see anything in the printouts. We used a different one for the 20 week ultrasound, and the pictures were much clearer.
We can’t wait for the little guy to get here!
I’ve posted ultrasound pictures from our Jan and Feb doctor visits. For the sake of modesty, I won’t upload the picture that proves it’s a boy — it’s very graphic! Click the small picture to see more.

Jamie’s been working hard cleaning out the guestroom so we can move Rachel in there. The guestroom has been the catch-all for all of our old stuff that didn’t really fit anyplace else. We want this room to be all Rachel’s and not make her co-exist with our old junk!

We had another ultrasound this morning, and we got a good look at the plumbing. We thought from previous ultrasounds that it might be a boy, but it was too early to tell. This time, there was no doubt about it, we’re having a BOY!
